About Searching Theology

Searching Theology is a project devoted to understanding God and His story so we can live before Him faithfully.

The project develops through three primary areas:

The Search is where ongoing theological development, exploration, clarification, and refinement occur.

The Story presents the current understanding of the story the Bible tells.

The System organizes the theological conclusions drawn from the Story into a coherent structure that remains open to development and revision.

Together, these provide a way to engage theology as something that can be explored carefully, organized meaningfully, and revised when needed.

The Bible is the primary and definitive revelation of God’s redemptive work and provides the foundation for Searching Theology. Other sources of knowledge may help illuminate questions, provide context, or challenge assumptions, but theological conclusions remain accountable to Scripture and to the story the Bible tells.

Searching Theology does not treat its current understanding as final or beyond correction. Convictions can be held while remaining open to clarification, refinement, and, when necessary, revision. When meaningful changes are made to the current understanding presented in The Story or The System, those changes are documented through Updates.

The purpose of this work is not theological understanding for its own sake. Searching Theology seeks understanding so that it may shape faithful living before God and toward others.
