The Bible is the primary way God has made Himself and His purposes known within the story.
It is a collection of writings produced across history through many authors, contexts, and literary forms, yet together it bears unified witness to the story that unfolds from creation to new creation.
Within Searching Theology, Scripture functions as the governing authority for all theological work. The story the Bible tells establishes the structure within which understanding is formed, conclusions are organized, and life is shaped.
For this reason, all theological reflection must remain accountable to the story Scripture presents, allowing the story to shape the system rather than the system to shape the story.
