Spiritual Rebellion
Spiritual rebellion refers to the opposition of certain spiritual beings against God’s authority and purposes within creation.
Scripture portrays spiritual beings who were created to serve within God’s order, yet some act in rebellion, resisting His rule and contributing to the distortion of creation. This rebellion does not rival God’s authority but represents a real and active dimension of opposition within the story.
This rebellion appears early in the narrative, most clearly in the figure of the serpent who deceives humanity. Throughout the story, Scripture continues to portray hostile spiritual powers that influence the world and stand in opposition to God’s purposes.
Human rebellion unfolds within this spiritually contested environment. While humanity remains responsible for its actions, spiritual opposition contributes to deception, distortion, and resistance to God’s rule.
