The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the personal presence and active power of God working within creation and among His people. As a member of the Trinity, the Spirit participates fully in the life and work of God.

Following the resurrection, ascension, and exaltation of Jesus, the Spirit is poured out upon believers, fulfilling the promises of the new covenant and inaugurating a new stage of God’s restoring work.

Through the Spirit, God’s presence now dwells within His people. He forms, sustains, and empowers the community of believers, continuing the mission of the risen Christ in the world.

The presence of the Spirit therefore represents both the active experience of Christ’s reign in the present age and the beginning of the renewed life that will be fully realized in the new creation.

Purpose Connection

The Holy Spirit brings God’s presence into His people, advancing His purpose to dwell with His creation in a new way. Through the Spirit, God’s dwelling is no longer limited to specific places but is experienced within the lives of those who belong to Him, anticipating its full realization in the new creation.

Why This Matters

Understanding the Holy Spirit shapes how we understand God’s presence and power in the present.

Through the Holy Spirit, God’s dwelling is no longer limited to specific places, but is experienced within His people and among them as a community. What was anticipated throughout the story becomes a present reality—God living with and within His people.

This reshapes how we understand life with God.
His presence is not distant or symbolic, but active and personal.
Life with God is lived through the Spirit, not apart from Him.

This also reshapes how we understand transformation and life with God.
We are not left to pursue alignment with God on our own.
The Spirit forms, guides, and empowers believers to live in the reality of the new life made possible through Jesus.

This shapes how we live.
We do not rely on our own strength or understanding alone, but live in dependence on the Spirit—responding to His leading and living in the life He is producing within us.

It also shapes how we understand community.
The Spirit does not only dwell within individuals, but forms a people in whom God’s presence is made known within the world.

Understanding the Holy Spirit therefore leads to dependence—living in the active presence of God as He forms and empowers His people in the present age.
